In this workshop, participants will explore practical strategies and tools to identify AI-generated content, uphold academic standards, and foster ethical academic practices. We will explore the growing prevalence of AI-generated content and its implications for academic integrity, including your experiences since ChatGPT became known among students. We will explore common characteristics and indicators of AI-generated assignments, such as unnatural language patterns or sophisticated content. We will look at a range of tools and techniques available to faculty for detecting AI-generated content, from plagiarism detection software to manual analysis methods and evaluate the strengths and limitations of each approach in the context of identifying AI usage. We will collaboratively develop strategies for communicating expectations to students and promoting academic integrity in AI-enabled learning environments, and proactive approaches to detecting and addressing AI usage in student assignments.
